Mission Vista High
School Special Announcement
Mission Vista High School is very pleased to announce the implementation of two special transportation programs for the 2013-2014 school year. Please note that these programs will impact our starting and ending times for next year. Starting in August, MVHS will begin school at 9:15 a.m. on Monday and 7:45 a.m. on all other days of the week. School will end at 2:58 p.m. every day except minimum days.
PROGRAM #1: The
San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) School Pool Program
SchoolPool connects parents who want to share the chore of getting their kids to and from school by carpooling. It’s a free, convenient, and secure online system organized by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) iCommute team, a team dedicated to reducing traffic congestion and improving the environment. Using the secure online RideMatcher system, parents are matched with other parents from Mission Vista who are interested in sharing driving responsibilities.
PROGRAM #2: VUSD Shuttle Bus Service
Vista Unified School District will be offering a shuttle bus
service that will offer FREE service from stops at the following locations:
(1)
N. Santa Fe Ave. at Elsinore St.
(2)
Melrose Dr. at Old Ranch Rd.
The first stop has been strategically located to provide
connecting service from North County Transit District’s Breeze Bus Line
#303. Students from parts of the Vista
Unified School District not served by Line #303 can take Breeze Bus lines that
connect to Line 303 (including 302, 305, 306, 318, 332, and 334/335) to take
advantage of this FREE VUSD shuttle service.
For students who will be utilizing Breeze Bus service to
travel to the N. Santa Fe stop, monthly NCTD
Regional Youth passes are available
for $36.00. These passes are valid seven
days a week on SPRINTER, BREEZE, Trolley, and MTS Regular Buses.
The shuttle bus will depart the connecting stop on N. Santa
Fe twice each morning at 6:55 a.m. and 7:25 a.m. In addition, the bus will make two trips from
MVHS to the stop each afternoon following the end of school.
VUSD Shuttle service will be limited to the first 144 students who sign up. Students boarding the bus at the N. Santa Fe stop will be assigned to the 6:55 a.m. bus or 7:25 a.m. bus based upon their residence within VUSD, with those coming from further distances receiving preference for the later bus.
Further information on these two transportation programs
will be forthcoming within the next month, including information on signing up
for the School Pool program, obtaining an NCTD
Regional Youth bus pass, and reserving a spot on the VUSD Shuttle Bus.
